Witan Goal Planner

How much do I need to invest each month?

Name a goal, a horizon and an assumption. The tool solves the monthly contribution that reaches it, and shows how much of the result is your money and how much is time.

Your assumptions

If it is, the amount needed on the day is larger. We inflate it before solving.

An assumption you choose, never a forecast we make.

  • Monthly compounding, contributions at the end of each month, no taxes and no fees. The assumed return is yours, not ours: nothing on this page forecasts a market.

Past performance is not a guide to future returns. These figures describe what happened over the period shown and nothing else.

Questions about this tool

What return should I assume?
The tool will not choose for you, and that is deliberate. Run it twice, two points apart, and see how much the answer moves. A goal that only works at the higher number is a goal that depends on markets rather than on you.
Why does inflation change the required contribution?
Because a goal named in today's money is a larger number on the day. Over thirty years at two percent, it is roughly eighty percent larger. Solving against the un-inflated figure is the most common way a plan is quietly short.
Does it account for taxes and fees?
No. Both depend on a jurisdiction and a wrapper this tool does not ask about. Fee drag has its own tool, and it is worth running alongside this one.
